Sun Safety Tips for Vacationing in Punta Cana

Located in the tropics, Punta Cana has beautiful weather nearly year-round. When you travel to Punta Cana hotels, come prepared to enjoy the beautiful setting safely. Here are some tips for sun safety:

Try to minimize sun exposure by avoiding being outside midday. Punta Cana resorts offer numerous activities and spa treatments. Book a massage before lunch or go on a shopping excursion until late afternoon.

Seek shade. Even when enjoying the outdoors, make the most of shade opportunities. Settle beneath a cabana on the beach or enjoy a poolside tiki bar.

Wear sun protective clothing. A hat can go a long way. Wear a fashionable, wide-brimmed hat at all times. Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes, and consider a coverup with SPF 50 or higher.

Re-apply sunscreen often. Even sunblock with a high SPF needs to be reapplied frequently. You also need to use a fairly large quantity at a time for complete coverage. Remember to wash sunscreen off thoroughly after you come inside.

Stay hydrated. While enjoying outdoors activities and cocktails on the beach, remember to drink plenty of water. If you’re used to a cooler climate, the heat can be especially draining. Try carrying a reusable water bottle with you when you’re outside.
