Punta Cana is located in the Dominican Republic on the island of Hispaniola, a land mass that’s nestled between Cuba to the west, and Puerto Rico to the east. Because of its location, it’s practically impossible to pick a time of year where you’ll encounter bad weather… with the notable exception of hurricane season, which lasts from June to November.
But just because a majority of people vacation to Punta Cana between January and March doesn’t mean you’ll end up paying top dollar for lodgings. You can find great Punta Cana hotels at rock bottom prices, especially if you shop for vacation packages that include airfare and hotel stays. All inclusive vacations are the best way to go, as these not only cover your travel and your lodgings, but meals, drinks, and activities.
With Punta Cana being the epicenter of tourism in all of the Dominican Republic, travelers interested in the occasional excursion during their stay will find plenty to do. Golfers revel in the dozen (and more coming) professional golf courses, while fun seekers will find no shortage of activities from coastal snorkeling and scuba diving, to an inland water park. And of course, once dusk arrives there’s the nightlife. The best time to visit for the least amount of crowds is fall. Since that falls squarely in the middle of hurricane season, you might do well to buy some travel insurance to cover any losses or damage to personal property.
